Ashley Stecenko spent her childhood growing up all over the Midwest. She received her BFA in Painting from Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, Indiana. She recently graduated with her MFA in Studio Art at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2018, Ashley was awarded a Graduate Assistantship from TCU. While working towards her MFA, she worked in the Galleries at TCU and was an instructor of record for Drawing 1. She also recently had a solo exhibition at Moncrief Cancer Institute and has shown in several group exhibitions since 2018. She is represented by Fort Works Art in Fort Worth, TX. Ashley’s work focuses on interests in family dynamics, displacement, and memory. Through a process of solvent-based image transfers, Ashley removes the image from its original context in order to construct a psychological space, exploring the places where emotional states collide.
